Merrily is particularly tricky show for the actors as the chronology of the show unfurls backwards, similarly to Pinter’s Betrayal. I played composer Franklin Shepard, whose consequences are clear before the audience is aware of the decisions being made. And I actually played the piano parts on stage as the character. I was also honored to receive the 2014 Theatre Bay Area Award for Outstanding Performance of a Male Actor in a Principal Role in a Musical for the show.
