City of Angels wasn’t a show that I was looking to do. The timing was tough, bumping up against the end of the run for On a Clear Day, but casting called me and said they were having trouble finding someone who could sing the part and they would work around my conflicts. Then I looked at the music and understood: the quartet music in this show is some of the toughest I’ve encountered in musical theater. And you know me: I love a challenge.
