Description

This was my third Lamplighter production, but my first actual Gilbert & Sullivan show with them. It was definitely an interesting crossover of cultures in the land of operetta, where you have people from both opera and musical theater coming together. And since there are so few shows in the G&S catalog and they are repeated so often, there is also the divide between philosophies of “this is how we always do this show” and “let’s do something different this time.” The main comment I received afterwards from their loyal audiences was that they really appreciated my choice of making Strephon smart, just not worldly.
